Desideria has been a dancer since her youth. At first being surrounded by Arabic "Raq Shaki dancers , burlesque performers backstage while her parents performed along 8th Ave venues as her mother a "burlesque dancer" and assistant to her father "an escape Artist/Illiuonist." It would be her calling as it was in her blood to entertain.
My mother performed as a dancer and assistant to my dad on stage. My brother and I were even on the road with them when we were just babies.
I remember as my mom told me I was surrounded by belly dancers even as early as 3, and I was dancing even then. I remember when I was but a small girl of 6 a tall red headed Dancer with a costume of blue sequins walked into our home during a lunch break from one of her shows to visit with my parents.
I was in awe. thus began my need, desire and life time passion to intrigue everyone as she did....
Being in a household of entertainers, listening to Flamenco music , my grandfather singing , the women dancing. It was only time I would be too! Dancing Flamenco and Belly dance since 3 in my home with family was the norm. As was Rock and Roll. I grew up with my parents friends(rock stars) and God parents who were very into Rock music and the alternative Dark arts and genre (thus is the reason or my love of the macabre). My parents had also put me in Classic Ballet classes since 3, when I became 19, I went to Princeton Ballet to train in Ballet and Flamenco. In my adulthood I went on to further my studies and training with many teachers throughout NYC, P.R, Fl and Spain... In Ballet, Flamenco, Samba, Middle Eastern , Jazz and Theater Arts.
I would like to thank those who have encouraged and taught me along my long journey to where I am now. Through my experiences, research, studies and constant training. In the culture, theory and physics of dance and their forms and styles. I have learned , grown into the very being I wanted to.......
Desideria has spent her adulthood performing with Local and National Theatrical , Punk, Gothic, Metal and Industrial bands throughout the Northeast. See Resume for details. While raising her two daughters alone as a single mother, attending College, dance classes and pursuing her dance career. She ventured into the world of Entertainment. She started as a Go-Go dancer in dance clubs named " ISIS" The Rock Goddess of the dance circuit. Even back in her twenties she was into Paganism and worshiped and researched the different Goddesses. As well she had always been innovative in her stage wear, and dance styles. Working in Rock clubs only brought attention to her individuality and intrigued many a musician with her renditions of femme fatal characters of myth, legend and allure and stage presence. It is how my first experience working with Rock band came about . I did make up and wardrobe for my high school friends band TROX in NJ, then I started designing stage wear ad as a back up dancer with them. It was after that another local NJ Metal band ( Fallen Angel) another discovered me and hired me as their singer . Thus then....becoming a dancer and singer backing up bands like "" Hex" , Phantasm ", "Nitemare" (An Alice Cooper show) and "Neon-Leon" .I even managed a friend of mine's band "Wrathchild "from hagards town Maryland and HEX from NJ for a short time I booked their shows.. Also as director/choreographer and dancer in her own 2 dance groups "Leather and Lace" and "The Phantasm Vamps" as well as NJ based R&R dance Group " Cut Glass " coming out of FL. They later was featured with Metal Icon band WASP in many major Metal Music Magazines. She was a special guest on Howard Stern 6 times, in his book twice on 2 pages. In 1989 she was a featured dance artist with " Joey Ramone ", " Blondie" and " Cheetah Chrome " of the Dead Boys . At The Ritz Theater in front of over a thousand screaming fans.. As well as with L.A Guns most recently at Webster Theater in Hartford CT 2006..
Desideria continued to flourish in the Rock music scene and dance circuit as a featured
Fusion belly dance and Burlesque performer dancing all through NYC and nationwide in nightclubs, events and parties. All as she trained effortlessly in Middle Eastern , Flamenco and Samba dance. With many teachers She has been dancing now for over 23 years.... She continues her studies, training and performing throughout New England, NYC and NJ. She teaches privately as she is preparing to have her own classes soon. She gives private lessons, lectures and workshops here and in Venezuela once a year.
